Twelve Things People Ask Before Booking
If yours is not here, phone the shop. We would rather spend three minutes on the call than have you book a session that was never going to help.
Do I need to be any good to get fitted?
No, and the opposite assumption costs beginners a lot of unnecessary struggle. A golfer with an inconsistent swing benefits more from correctly sized clubs than a good player does, because they have less ability to compensate for equipment that is wrong. The only thing we need is a swing repeatable enough to give us a pattern, which usually means a few months of playing.
How long before a fitting shows up in my scores?
Bending and sizing changes are usually noticeable within two or three rounds because your body does not have to relearn anything. A new club takes longer, typically four to six rounds before you trust it enough to swing at it freely. Anyone promising you a shot a round on the day of the fitting is selling something.
What should I bring?
The clubs relevant to the session, the shoes you play in, and a glove if you use one. If you keep scorecards or a yardage note on your phone, bring that too. You do not need to bring balls; we supply the same model throughout so the data stays consistent.
Can you fit me if I plan to buy my clubs somewhere else?
Yes. You pay for the session, the specification sheet is yours, and you can hand it to any retailer. We would rather build the club for you, but we are not going to hold your measurements hostage to make that happen.
Is indoor data trustworthy?
For the properties we care about most, yes. Launch angle, spin, face angle and strike location are measured directly and do not care whether you are indoors. Carry distance is calculated, which is why we hand you a range rather than a single number, and why we run a separate cold-weather calibration in early spring.
Will you tell me to keep the clubs I already have?
Frequently. Roughly one session in nine ends with no purchase at all, and a much larger share end with an adjustment to existing clubs rather than a replacement. That is the outcome the pricing model is designed to permit — we get paid for the ninety minutes either way.
How far ahead do I need to book?
Weeknight slots after five run about two weeks out. Saturday mornings run longer than that in spring. Midweek daytime slots are often available within a few days, and we keep a short-notice list for cancellations if you can come in on short notice.
Do you work on clubs you did not sell?
All of them, at the same rates, without comment. A large part of the bench work here is on clubs bought online or secondhand. Where we cannot help is counterfeit heads — we will point them out and decline the work rather than put epoxy into something unsafe.
My irons say they are all the same loft gaps. Why measure?
Because printed specifications are targets and manufacturing has tolerance. We routinely find a degree and a half of variance inside a single new set, and more in sets that have been played for a few seasons on hard ground or range mats. The measurement takes minutes and it decides whether the rest of the session is based on facts.
Do you do lessons?
No. We measure equipment and we build it. Mixing instruction into a fitting muddles both, because a swing that is actively changing cannot produce a stable baseline to fit against. We are happy to recommend teachers around the metro who we know send us sensible information.
What happens if the club you build does not feel right?
Bring it back. We re-measure everything at no charge within ninety days, and if the specification we wrote turns out to be wrong we correct it. If the specification is right but the club still does not suit you, we will work through the next variable with you rather than shrug.
Is there parking?
Yes, in front of the bays and along the side of the building. The entrance is the fourth door from the east end. There is a step up into the shop; call ahead if that is a problem and we will meet you at the bay door instead.
One More Thing
The most common regret we hear is from golfers who waited. People put a fitting off for years, buy two sets of clubs in the meantime, and then discover the problem was a lie angle the whole time. If you have been meaning to do this since last season, book the cheap session and find out.
